Orienteering Basics

This course is designed for beginners who are ready to learn how to use a map and compass, expand where they go adventuring, and gain confidence when off the beaten path.

While maps will be provided, you need to bring your own base plate-style compass.  Either the Silva Explorer 2.0 or Suunto A-10 are recommended, but a similar compass will work.

Also, you need to bring a daypack, water, snacks, and the clothing layers you need to be out in the woods for 2-3 hours. Remember it can be a bit cold in January.
