Wilderness First Aid with the Land Trust of North Alabama
September 6 @ 8:00 AM – September 7 @ 5:00 PM
Registration for the course will open in April, 2025
Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is the assessment of and treatment given to an ill or injured person in a remote environment where definitive care of a physician and/or rapid transport is not readily available. This 16 hour course will provide you with the skills and confidence to assess and treat trauma and illnesses in the backcountry when help is more than an hour away.
This course is being taught in partnership with the Land Trust of North Alabama. https://landtrustnal.org
Minimum age for this course is 16.
We consider CPR to be integral to wilderness medicine, so our course includes CPR training.

Admin notes:
Be prepared to take notes outside and bring a backpack with water, rain gear, and whatever else you need to be comfortable in the woods for 2 hours at a time.
There will not be time to leave to get lunch, so please bring lunch with you on both days.
We will be meeting in Chapman Mountain Preserve’s pavilion, but much of the training takes place outside so be ready for whatever weather we have that weekend.
Everyone will have a chance to be a patient during a scenario. We use theatrical makeup to simulate wounds, so wear older clothing that would ok to get dirty and possibly get makeup on.
