Wilderness First Aid with the Land Trust of North Alabama
September 7 @ 8:00 AM – September 8 @ 5:00 PM
This course is offered in partnership with the Land Trust of North Alabama, and will take place at Chapman Mountain in Huntsville, AL. Course attendance is open to the public. All attendees must be at least 16 years old.
Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is the assessment of and treatment given to an ill or injured person in a remote environment where definitive care of a physician and/or rapid transport is not readily available. This 16 hour course will provide you with the skills and confidence to assess and treat trauma and illnesses in the backcountry when help is more than an hour away.
We consider CPR to be integral to wilderness medicine, so our course includes CPR training.

Admin notes:
- Be prepared to take notes outside and bring a camp chair. Have backpack with water, rain gear, and whatever else you need to be comfortable in the woods for 2 hours at a time.
- We will be meeting in an open pavilion, so be ready for whatever weather we have that weekend.
- Everyone will have a chance to be a patient during a scenario. We use theatrical makeup to simulate wounds, so wear older clothing that would ok to get dirty and possibly get makeup on.
- Bring a sack lunch, snacks, and water. There will not be time to leave to get lunch.
- There is no camping at Chapman Mountain.
