DESCRIPTION:Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is the assessment of and treatment given to an ill or injured person in a remote environment where definitive care of a physician and/or rapid transport is not readily available.  This 16 hour course will provide you with the skills and confidence to assess and treat trauma and illnesses in the backcountry when help is more than an hour away. For Scout Leaders\, this training will prepare you to take a unit to a high adventure base. \n\n\n\nMinimum age for this course is 16. \n\n\n\nWe consider CPR to be integral to wilderness medicine\, so our course includes CPR training. \n\n\n\nSchedule: 8am to 5pm each day. Please be onsite and ready to start class by 7:30am each day.

DESCRIPTION:This advanced first aid is the assessment of\, and treatment given to an ill or injured person in any environment where definitive care is less than one hour away.  This course covers the types of injuries and illnesses encountered by folks who are active in the outdoors.  It will emphasize the assessment\, treatment\, and prevention injuries and medical conditions.  We will cover the immediate actions taken to assess a scene\, determine MOI\, stabilize a trauma patient\, stabilization of bone and joint injuries\, wound care\, and issues such as dehydration\, respiratory distress\, and traumatic brain injuries.   \n\n\n\nIf you are a NICA or ACA coach\, this course covers all the requirements for gaining or maintaining certification as a L2 or L3 coach.
